Qipu was born out of the designer's passion for creativity and all sorts of crafts. Since 2018, the Queenstown based company came to life with beautiful pieces bringing warmth and style to any home. All products are made from a single piece of wood, natural cotton rope, and a pair of scissors combined with time, passion, and patience.

With the owner being from Peru, Qipu Macrame is named after the Incas' counting system - Quipu, one of the firsts in the world. The counting system created by the ancient culture from South America consisted of different types of knots made on different pieces of string attached to a main stick of string.

Qipu Macrame prides itself on using natural driftwood from Lake Wakatipu, and use only 100% natural cotton rope. Their pieces range from intricately-designed wall macrame, elegant macrame plant hangers, macrame accessories, and more. All of the pieces are handcrafted to perfection and are greatly inspired by nature and design.

Qipu Macrame also offers macrame workshops where they teach participants how to make their own handcrafted pieces to take home.
